KICKBASS Solar Powered Sustainable Greenhouses

We've designed the ultimate in sustainable greenhouses.  The KICKBASS EDome fills the role of a greenhouse wonderfully.  This structure is able to withstand cold mid-west winters, provides a warm sunny environment as much as possible during those short winter days. 


This solution uses a very efficient energy system with a quick build time.  The Model 10/40 Baseload is an Off-Grid Self-Sustaining Tri-Generation Loop. It utilizes an open, continuous solar-thermal input to generate a net-positive energy export, while maintaining a 100% closed, zero-waste fluid and biological recycling matrix. 


This system is fully solar powered with various optional backup systems depending on the individual needs and situation.

Architecture

Greenhouse floors can rotate slowly around 360 degrees to allow all plants to get equal sunshine.  The upper carousels rotate as well.  For habitats a rotating floor is not desired and is not included, but carousels could be employed if desired.


Each KICKBASS Habitat or Greenhouse comes with an optional fishtank in the basement.  This water is used for raising fish, watering plants, and for hydro pumping between habitats and greenhouses depending on the surrounding landscape. Buildings are intentionally placed at above grade and below grade locations.  Water is pumped uphill during the day and flows downhill at night generating additional electricity as needed.

Our initial goal is to develop our microclimate greenhouse controls to meet the strict environmental parameters required by world-class botanical gardens and arboretums for native plant propagation and seed banking.

The Model 10/40 packs a massive 3,150-plant commercial vertical farm into a tight 37-foot circle on the ground.  Utilizing our motorized canopy columns and rotating crop rings, your plants slowly spin through the canopy to receive 100% uniform daylight with zero shaded corners.  When it is time to harvest, individual column racks retract straight down to a chest-height ground station, allowing a single farm worker to stand completely still while the crop tiers glide smoothly past their hands—slashing your field labor requirements by up to 70%. 

The Dual-Revenue Streams

Aquaponics Integration for farmers looking to maximize their land's revenue per square foot, the Sovereign Deep-Vault package drops a complete, biosecure 80,000-gallon cold-water fish hatchery directly beneath the greenhouse floor slab.  Local growers can cultivate premium native gamefish like Rainbow Trout or Walleye in total darkness, completely shielded from internal algae growth.  The nutrient-dense fish water is pumped up the core spine to automatically fertilize the crops above, while the plants act as a natural biological filter to return pristine water back down to the vault.
